Zentangle art really comes alive with that final touch of adding your “shades of grey.” This Beyond Basics class will look into all the paths you can take with your pencil once the tangling is done. Students will learn tangles that have unique shading options and see how simple\, subtle shading techniques can transform your work and totally change the integrity of your tile. This class will isolate the shading process and show students how a single graphite pencil has the ability to produce not just one colour but many. Students will learn to add tones from the barely there grey to the darkest charcoal and everything in between. \nStudents should bring their “Introduction to Zentangle” kit to class. All other required tools and supplies will be provided. \nIMPORTANT: Students wishing to sign up for all four in-person “Beyond Basics” classes offered in March and April\, 2025 may do so for a reduced price by taking advantage of the Zentangle® Beyond Basics Class Bundle – In Person option.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Zentangle® (ONLINE)
DESCRIPTION:Note: This class is a prerequisite to all other Zentangle® classes. \n“Introduction to Zentangle” will be taught by Laurel Storey\, CZT® (Certified Zentangle Teacher®)\, and will provide a beginner with a background in the history of Zentangle\, introduce them to the basic steps of the method\, and expose them to associated vocabulary and tools used. Students will be immersed in learning tangle patterns as they create Zentangle paper “tiles” and will leave with a clear understanding that\, “Anything is possible one stroke at a time.”® \nONLINE classes will be hosted on Zoom on selected Saturdays in 2025 starting at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time\, with login information sent via e-mail to registered students. Supplies are NOT included in the cost of online classes. Students will be provided with a full list of required supplies (including alternative options)\, and may opt to either provide their own or purchase supplies online from Laurel Storey\, CZT® for local (Windsor\, Ontario) pickup. \nIntroductory classes run for approximately 2.5 to three hours.
