Leslie Harper-Reid
B.A., B. ED. Visual Arts

Passionate about helping others discover the joy art can bring to their lives.

Leslie has had a life-long affinity and appreciation for artistic endeavours. She is formally educated in visual art, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lakehead University, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. She taught visual arts at the high school level until her retirement in June 2023. Art is an important aspect of Leslie’s life beyond teaching. In 2020 and 2021, she received the Municipality of Lakeshore Mayor’s Artist in Pandemic Grant in recognition of the importance of art to mental health during the global pandemic.

More recently, Leslie has been increasing her exposure and involvement in the art community. In 2023 and 2024 she participated in the Size Show, held by Nancy Johns Gallery in Windsor. Her work has been featured in the 2024 fall edition of Art Create Learn Magazine. Leslie is also a member of Walkerville Artists Collective and the Art Society of Kingsville. Patrons of Café Amor & Art in Belle River enjoyed her solo art display in late 2024. Going forward, she hope to pursue more venues and ways to expand her reach in the art community.

Leslie provides small class instruction, offering a wide range of media and techniques. She enjoys seeing students of all ages immerse themselves during the creative process and their sense of pride in finished work. Leslie believes in the positive impact art creation can have in a person’s overall well-being.

In her home studio, she has recently been focusing on incorporating botanical and organic forms into her artwork through gel plate printing, painting, collage, and mixed media.
